{A stay at home and DIY kind of weekend // Pallet Pumpkins and DIY Headboard}

This weekend we traded in our traveling shoes for a stay at home/DIY/tackle projects kind of weekend. It seems like we are always on the go {which we love}, but a weekend at home was just what we needed. Our to-do list seems to be growing by the minute lately. We were able to cross several of those off our list this weekend.

Saturday we woke up determined and focused and ready to roll! I cleaned up the kitchen while Nate prepared some Ribs to throw on the smoker. Then we started on our Pallet Pumpkins {thanks to Beth's awesome tutorial}. This took us several hours to do. Plus we just kind of took our time & enjoyed our time as a family just being together. Mason started to get bored after a couple of hours so we suggested he go visit Nana and Papa. So he did. He drove his little truck over there {our properties back up to each other}, opens the gate & closes it and then goes to visit. But the little stinker actually went over there to recruit help because he thought his mama & daddy needed some help with the pumpkins! haha. He slays me. Anyhow, so they all came back to hang out and see our progress on our pumpkins. We were able to get three pumpkins of different sizes out of one pallet. They're not perfect by any means, but they are quirky and fun and I love them. I think next weekend we might attempt some a little more like these.

After we finished our pumpkin project we started working on our DIY headboard for our bed. Nate actually built it several months ago, but we painted it and put it in our room this weekend. We used old fence posts & 2x4's to build the actual headboard. For the painting, we used a bit of turquoise spray paint and then went over it with antique white chalk paint. We are smitten with it!!

I also made a version of this while the paint was drying on the other projects. I will get a good picture of it later. I am not sure where I want to hang it just yet. That evening we ate some of the best ribs I've ever had thanks to the hubby! Mason...the pickiest eater in the world also ate one and loved it.

On Sunday we put the headboard in our room and I added some lights to it. It gives our room such a cozy, soft and romantic feel to it. So, so in love and now I never want to leave our room. Mason also said that he wants to sleep in our room every night. Umm no. ha.

We also did a lot of cleaning and re-arranging of furniture. We've had these lockers outside of our shop for a month or more and finally moved a set into Mason's room! These things are cool and hold so much stuff! It was a great addition to Mason's room. Now I just have to organize his room better.

We are sore and paying for all of the work now, but it's so worth it. How was your weekend?

  10. I love everything you made over the weekend! I enjoyed seeing it all unfold in snapchat! That headboard is to die for. I think i'm going to see if I can sweet talk my honey into one like that when we get ready to re-do our bedroom (soon hopefully). The lights on it-SWOON!! What a fun weekend!!! Your little guy is hilarious. Mine probably would've gone for help, too when he was that age! And don't you love when your honey smokes something delicious? We did for the previous two weekends and it was the best!

  21. I love this! DIY weekends are the best! I love everything you did! We spent our weekend (and part of my week) prepping, painting, and moving Sydney into her new room! It's much bigger and brighter than the one she originally chose when we moved in. We still have a few more projects for her room, but we will get there in time.
