{Slowing it down // Enjoying time at home}

If you've read my blog for a quick minute you would know how crazy busy our lives are. We are always on the go. Always. And we are rarely ever home {except during the week...and that doesn't count because #life}. The last few weekends we have designated a 'stay at home' day and we have loved every single second of it. Our DIY/Do this list seems to have grown a mile long and we never have time for those projects. But lately? We have made time. We're slowing it down and hanging out at home. And? We don't hate it. It's been so nice. And so, so good for my soul.

I work at home M-F...so usually when 4:00pm on Friday rolls around I am ready to get the heck out of dodge. Probably quite opposite from those that work far a bit aways from home...aka my hubby. But I am just ready to go do something and be somewhere else...anywhere, but home. So when my lovely husband said "lets just have a chill weekend and stay at home" a few weeks ago I must have looked at him like he had 3 heads. But, I obliged. We didn't have any plans so it was the perfect time to try this staying at home thing. And we did. We hung out in our shop crafting things {DIY pallet pumpkins, our headboard and a few other things}, we smoked some meats on the smoker, and we just enjoyed each other's company.

That weekend left me with one happy, happy soul. And left me craving more time at home.

So the next weekend? Same thing...we stayed at home as much as we could. We enjoyed our time together out in the shop. We would turn on the radio and either listen to college football games, the Ranger game or music and just talked and worked together to build some amazing pieces for our home.

Anyhow, today I just wanted to share a few pictures from our Saturday morning this past weekend. Nothing special at all. Just enjoying the simpler things in life. And slowing it down.

How was your weekend? Are you a busy-body always on the go? Or a homebody?

  1. I need to learn to slow down more.. We are always so busy we don't take the time to really enjoy the little things!!

  2. We are busy bodies! Every chance we get, we are doing something and if we don't have plans we will find something to do! We are hardly home on the weekends. This passed weekend we stayed home because we have had a lot of rain. It was nice to chill and not be on the go. Sometimes we have to reset and realize that we need to slow it down a bit and soak up the chill moments too!

  3. Great photos. It looks like everyone had a nice time relaxing at home.

    I'm definitely a home body. I like to go out and do things but some of my favorite moments are the ones where I'm at home enjoying some of my favorite hobbies (watching sports (especially baseball), reading books/magazines/blogs, watching TV shows & movies, scrapbooking/coloring/planning in my Erin Condren planner, playing games, going on the computer, etc.)

  6. I am a total homebody - I love spending time at home. I work at home 3 days a week but I feel like weekends are the time for me to get everything else done that I need to around the house since work sucks the life outta me. I love that blue mason jar & what camera/lens do you use for pictures? They are so amazing!!

  7. Great photos! I stay at home so I am ready to get out with hubby on the weekends. But he works so he would probably just rather chill at home. But many times - I win and we go out shopping or do a family activity..LOL!

  8. Love it! When my husband and I first got married he always designated stay at home weekends where I wasn't allowed to plan anything. I agree sometimes you just need to slow it down! Great pictures as always.

  10. I seriously think we have something planned for every weekend from now through October. I'm excited about it but also thinking about how tired and busy we're going to be. The holiday season makes me so happy and so overwhelmed at the same time! We need to slow down and plan some time at home!
    PS those cinnamon rolls look so good!

  15. Because I stay at home on the weekends I like to go, go, go, whereas Scott is typically one who wants to do a few things, but sticking around the house is always on his radar. However, I do love spending time together, not having anywhere to be or anything to do.
    So glad your weekends at home have rejuvenated you!

  16. You guys do always seem to be busy doing something or other, so I'm glad you're relaxing a little bit. :) And those cinnamon rolls look ah-mazing! And When did you re-do your blog design? I could have sworn I just looked at it a day or two ago... but maybe I was on my phone so I didn't notice? I love it!!

  17. That Mason sure is a cutie! I could really go for some homemade cinnamon rolls right about now. Except I'm the one that has to "home make" them...so nevermind ;) I'm a total homebody, so this post totally makes sense to me.
