{Goals // Getting healthy}

I wrote on my 2015 Goals post that I wanted to get healthy. Well, last Friday started that journey for me. Friday evening we were driving around looking for something to do {and honestly, to get away from the constant circus that is our dogs for a bit} and on a whim I asked Nate if he wanted to go check out the YMCA. He quickly obliged. It's something we have always wanted to do, ya know, in the 8 years we have lived here, but just never have.

We went in, talked to the front desk and she offered us a tour. She was only 2 weeks into the job and every room was "We pretty much have everything you need in here" ha! But, we liked what we saw. And the child area was pretty great too, with an outdoor play area for warmer days. Then she told us about the January special of only $15 joiner fee {normally $95} and we couldn't sign up fast enough!

Coincidentally I also started my diet that day, not knowing we'd end up getting a YMCA membership.

We had plans all weekend and wasn't able to visit the gym. But, I did keep up with my diet all weekend, even at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo which was filled with lots of fried goodness! Come Monday we couldn't get there fast enough!

>>> G O A L S <<<

+ lose 40ish pounds
+ build muscle
+ build endurance
+ build strength

and maybe, just maybe a bikini body? Ha! Reaching there...

>>> D I E T <<<

+ no carbs
+ no diet sodas
+ lots and lots of water

>>> W O R K O U T <<<

This was my week.

+ Monday - 2.5 miles on the elliptical
+ Tuesday - 2.5 miles on the elliptical, started a squat challenge
+ Wednesday - 1.5 miles on the elliptical, squat challenge, kettlebell exercises
+Thursday - 1 mile on the elliptical, 2.54 miles on the bike, squat challenge. kettlebell exercises

The plan is to build up to at least an hour of cardio a day. I will start incorporating ab exercises and weights.

What's your workout like? Any songs you recommend for a playlist?

  1. Yay! I love my YMCA. Our offers a scholarship program which really helps with the cost.

    I am a runner so I mostly run but I really like adding weights and some cardio machines to. For music I am all about anything with a good beat. I really like to use Pandora and it's easy to do since my Y has Wi-fi.

    Excited for you and this journey.

  2. I wish we had a YMCA close to us, we would be members for sure! What a great start! You'll be able to make your goals for sure.

  3. Great job lady!!!! That's awesome! We're on a diet too but are not working out. I feel like I should, but (excuses excuses) I don't really have the time for it. Sure I could make time, but I just don't have the motivation right now. Sorry to be so uplifting lol. But I think you are doing AMAZING and even though I can't follow my own advice, I am a good cheerleader!

  4. Good for you! My workout right now mainly consists of running around after AJ & Marty. I love to get out for walks too! I also have a piyo DVD that is collecting dust that I need to bust out ;)

  5. I need to do it too. I wish we had a YMCA. Although I do like doing work out video's it's just I am lazy and want the weight to just fall off. Haha wishful thinking. Good job on no diet sodas...Stressful days lead me to those .....
    Good luck friend! You got this! xo

  6. I started working out again this week after a much too long hiatus. I just want to fit into a couple pairs of cute shorts again, haha! My apt complex has a nice gym so I go there, my only struggle is the weight lifting. I've gotta get into it!

  7. Awesome girl, I'm so excited for you! I go to a gym and I really enjoy it! A healthy lifestyle has been hard for me to maintain in the past couple years but I'm still trying to set goals and achieve them. I get really hard on myself when I don't meet the goals I set for myself but I also try to remind myself that anything I do is better than nothing!

Thanks for the comments! Hope you are having an amazing day!!
