{Two and a Half Years Old}

Okay, so I am a little behind on this. I wanted to have Mason's exact measurements before I posted this...but here we are a month later and I still haven't gotten exacts!

Mason turned 2.5 years old on November 25th.

Two and a half years old!!! How is that even possible my sweet boy?? But you know what? Sometimes it feels like he has been a part of our family forever. And other times I cannot fathom that it's been 2 and a half years since I first met this amazing little boy!

He will still tell you that he's four though. Sometimes it's three and sometimes its five, but never two!

Stats/Sizes

Weigh 34ish lbs {Daddy weighed himself and then you with him}
Approx 36/36.5 inches tall

Size 3t bottoms
Size 3/4t shirts - depends on the brand
Size 8 shoes

Size 6 diapers/pull ups

Eating - still don't care much about food. You'd rather drink than eat. We have to make you eat on most occasions. You love bananas, yogurt, grilled cheese, funyuns and of course milk. You'd drink milk 24/7 if we'd let you.
Sleeping - still sleeping great at night. On week nights you're usually in bed by 7:30-8:00 and asleep by 8:00. Weekends you're up a little later. Bed time is pretty much ridiculous! You talk and talk and tell story after story to avoid going to sleep. You have always been able to fight sleep like a pro! You still nap well at school {a little over 2 hours a day}, but weekends are hit and miss. Most times you are too busy for a nap. Sometimes it's good because you will go to bed early and stay on schedule...but some times not good because you'll throw fits from being tired!
Talking - there's not much you don't say! You're a talker. For sure. You tell us that you love to talk, but you really don't have to. It's obvious! ha. I do love being able to communicate with you, though. You also ask a lot of questions about everything under the sun! We get complimented often about how well and clear you talk!

Potty Training - not going as well as I'd like...but I guess when you're ready it will happen. Before the Christmas break you were doing really great at school. You've never done as well at home as you do at school, though. I think it's a number of reasons. You go at school because all the other kids are going, it's a different room, etc. At home you know that mommy will just change your diaper, you're too busy to tell us, and our bathroom just isn't as fun. I think I may introduce a sticker chart or something at home.

Imagination - here lately your imagination has gone through the roof! Your dad and I just look at each other and grin! It's amazing some of the things that you come up with. I just love it. It's neat to hear all of the different scenarios you come up with when driving your trucks/tractors.

Learning - you can now count to 20.  You catch us off guard all the time with things you know and have learned. At your recent Christmas program we learned that you know the Pledge of Allegiance, most of the Christmas Pledge and the Pledge to the Bible. Made this Mama so proud!! At Random times you will blurt out with something like "Mama, a spider has 8 legs." Every day is something different.

Mason, my sweet love, you are crazy hilarious and stubborn as a mule! You are constantly cracking us up with the things you say or the faces you make. And boy do you love to make faces!! You are also very smart. Your brain is seriously like a little sponge and even when we think you aren't paying attention, you are! Mommy and Daddy surely have to watch what we say these days!!

You still love tractors, monster trucks and jeeps. In fact, riding your Power Wheel jeep all around the yard is your absolute favorite. And you drive it really well; even over hills and through mud puddles. And when it comes to mud...you are ALL boy! You're so funny, though, if there is a touch of water anywhere around you have to put on your rain boots.

Mason, you still have a very compassionate heart and a sweet, sweet soul. You make Mama look up to you and want to be more like you. Your heart really is as big as they come. Daddy and I love to see things through your eyes!

 Masonbug, you are growing up entirely too fast. Please slow down baby! Stay little forever!!

I love you to the moon and back sweet boy!!

{Father/Son time}

Mason and I get a lot of one on one time. Nathan has to leave our house by 5:15am in the morning to make it to work on time. He is part of a state-issued van pool. It's been a blessing to us because it's gas money that we save as well as wear and tear on our vehicle. The only downfall is the hours he is gone - 5:15am - 6:00pm. Therefore, I wake up Mason, get him ready, take him to school and then I pick him up in the afternoon and we have about an hour together before Daddy gets home. It's time that I wouldn't trade for anything in the world.

But, when Daddy gets home I like to sit back and let them have some time together. It's important and I know that they both need it. Whether it's playing outside, driving hotwheels in the floor, or watching Monster Truck videos online; it's time they both need and love.
More often than not I hang out in the background and snap pictures. And? They are kind of my favorite.

See the smile it puts on my sweet boy's face?

 Warms my heart so much! Mason's face lights up when Daddy gets home from work. And Daddy? Thinks this little boy hung the moon {he did, but still!}.

They are my entire world.

{Santa Shennanigans - 2012}

{written on 11/21}

This past weekend we were out and about and ventured over to Bass Pro Shop. Surprisingly the Santa line was not very long, so we jumped in line. 15 minutes later Mason was making a bee-line to meet Santa.

It was hilarious! When it was our turn and Mason saw the kids before him get off Santa's lap he took of running towards Santa as fast as he could. He climbed up and hopped right in Santa's lap. Everyone around was laughing and smiling. It made my heart so happy that he was not scared of Santa.

They took his picture and then he started climbing down.

Santa said, "Wait, wait, wait. Let's talk!" and proceeded to ask Mason what he wanted.

And?

"A BIG Monster truck" is what he told Santa.

Holy moly, he looks so big/grown here!

Mason, I hope you're this way always...fearless and friendly!

{Weekend Wrap-up}

We had a very nice and festive weekend!!! We opted out of Black Friday shopping and went to the gun range with some of our best friends instead. Mason stayed with his Nana, Papa and Uncle T-Ty. We shot for over 2.5 hours and had a complete blast. Nathan and I laughed on the way there about how many guns and ammo we had in the back seat. It looked like we were going to war! We shot everything from pistols to ARs. We shot at pumpkins, targets and Pringle cans. It was also nice to just hang out and catch up.

{warning! this is going to be a picture heavy post}

I fell in love with this place across from the gun range. They had the greatest setup complete with a Blacksmith barn and the neatest stables. I'm a huge fan of all things rustic!!

After the gun range we took Mason a burrito {his favorite} and visited with the inlaws for a couple of hours. We were perusing Pinterest and found the cutest little Rudolph made out of wine corks. My MIL had everything on hand to make them...so I whipped up a few. They came out so cute!!! I'm in love with them.

That evening we just hung out. I tried for almost 2 hours to get Mason to take a nap, but he just wouldn't fall asleep. Although, we did relax and he was nice and still for 2 hours. We headed to town to grab a pizza and movie and Mason fell asleep {at 5:45pm}...right in the middle of a major jam session to Aaron Watson's new cd! Seriously...one second he was nodding his head and singing as loud as he could and then he was OUT! It was the craziest thing. If you know Mason then you know that he doesn't just fall asleep!

Before we left...

And when he crashed...

He was still asleep when we got home, so we put him in bed. We were so nervous. We didn't know if he would sleep all night or wake up at 8, 10, 12...ready to party! BUT - he slept until 8:45 the next morning. Can you say growth spurt? Seriously! He was pretty great on Saturday, too. Well rested. That's for sure.

Saturday afternoon we went to eat at Oma's one of our favorite little town diners. Then we went to get a {real} Christmas Tree. Mason had a lot of fun! We picked out a really nice Frasier Fir - somewhere between 6 and 7ft. It's huge! And beautiful. And smells divine!

Oh, and Mason picked out his own tree, too!

Cute, right?

I tried to get some better pictures, but he wasn't having it. You get what you get with a toddler.

And our huge tree...

Nate is standing on the tailgate of a 4x4 pickup, if that helps to visualize the size of the tree!!

Trimming the tree...

One of my best friend's mom made that hat for Mason his first Christmas back in 2010. I'm so happy that it still fits. And he loves it. I told him that Krista's mom made it for him...so every time we pulled out a new Christmas decoration he would ask me if it was from Krista's Mommy! So cute.

Sunday Nate went to the gun show with his dad and brother so Mason and I hung out a couple hours. Then we headed to town to get ingredients for ornament making! Mason was pretty fussy all day on Sunday. It was quite exhausting. He threw a HUGE fit in Big Lots and I had to leave...with a screaming toddler in tow. Then he proceeded to kick, scream and cry when I tried to put him in his carseat. I'm sure people thought I was kidnapping the poor kid!! It was an epic fit, let me tell you. We went home and just hung out the rest of the day. We made ornaments and played outside. It was a beautiful day!!

How was your weekend? I hope it was amazing!
