{My sweet, sweet Diesel boy // We will miss you}

We had to say goodbye to our sweet Diesel boy today. My heart is shattered and I am completely broken!!

Shortly after our trip to Florida in August, Diesel fell really ill. He couldn't keep any food down and was rapidly losing weight. He was in and out of the vet and on meds for months. However, nothing was helping. He continued to lose weight & red blood cells, was lethargic, lost his appetite altogether, and was so sad all the time. The vet did another examination and said that it would be best to say our goodbyes. She was 99% sure he had cancer and it was too late for any kind of treatment. His quality of life ranked really low by their standards. We knew in our heart of hearts she was right, but it was still the hardest decision we have ever had to make. Diesel was so special to all of us! He was our first baby and was so much more than just a dog or a pet. He was our family. We are not okay. 

Ohhhh, my sweetest boy. You will be missed more than you could ever imagine. We love you and will never forget all of the happiness you brought us over the years. You were the best friend any of us could have ever asked for. 

And I have to mention here how proud we are of Mason! He handled all of this so well and was stronger than most adults would have been! He loved Diesel something fierce and Diesel knew it.
