{This past weekend...}

Happy Monday!! We had a pretty eventful and emotional weekend, but it was wonderful. This past Sunday was our Pastor's last sermon at our church. He and his family have been called to do work in Illinois and they will be leaving in a couple of weeks. We are all sad, but we trust God's plan and understand the calling. We also had an Ordination ceremony for our Elders. After church on Sunday we had a lunch for both of the above things and it was amazing! I love how our church truly is one big family. Anyhow, here's a bit more about our weekend...

...this past weekend Mason and I went to Bible study with our small group Friday night while Nate headed out for his fishing tournament.

...this past weekend we had a church work day on Saturday. We had an amazing turnout and accomplished most of what we needed to get done. I painted doors in our family life center and learned that is hard to do when you are only 5'2 - 5'3 and have T-Rex arms! It was fun, though!

...this past weekend Mason and I had a lunch date and did a little shopping before coming home to relax. He built Legos and I caught up on Grey's Anatomy.

...this past weekend Nathan sent me a few photos from his fishing trip. He looked so cold!

....this past weekend I went out with ladies from church in honor of our Pastor's wife and dear friend. We are going to miss her dearly! It was a great night of good food and great conversation. I love these ladies something fierce and feel so thankful to have them in my life.

...this past weekend we had an amazing last sermon by our Pastor and the ordination ceremony of our four elders. I took pictures for the event and can't wait to see how they turned out. Nathan captured this one with his phone.

...this past weekend we had a lunch after church to honor our Pastor's family and our new Elders. There were many tears shed and so many hugs given.

...this past weekend we went to Boy Scouts and Mason learned how to whittle with a knife. They used a piece of soap and he did pretty well.

...this past weekend we had a Sunday Funday afternoon with some friends from church. We went fishing at a small lake in a nearby town. The lake was so calm and relaxing. A bit chilly and rainy, but it was still great.

...this past weekend we went to eat after the lake and ran into another family from our church and small group. They had already finished eating, but joined us at our table.

And that's a wrap on our weekend! It was another busy one...but aren't they all? Have a great week!

  1. Such a fun weekend! I remember it was always hard to leave a church as a pastor's kid.

  2. I'm sorry that your pastor is leaving! A long time ago my rabbi took a new job, but luckily he didn't move away so we still got to see him, until we moved away! Zachary did that soap and knife activity last year.

  5. Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your pastor leaving. I know that's hard. Just two years ago, our pastor who had been here since I was in second grade left and I was just heartbroken. He was the one who had been at my first communion and my first confirmation. He was at my graduation, he married Brian and I, and he baptized both of our babies. It was like a family member moving away. Hopefully his replacement will be equally as amazing!

  7. Looks like a lovely weekend of blue skies. SO sad when your pastor gets called to a new place. Our pastor got called to Heaven almost 2 years ago. Your church family is just that and it was such a sad day but thankful we will see Him again :). Have you found a new pastor yet?

  10. that must have been a hard day for you to say goodbye. Your church seems like a small tight knit group. Whenever you talk of your weekends, I'm thinking, this must be the whole weekend, and then you wrote, and on Sunday...hehe. What a great weekend, per usual!

  14. Goodness, the church transitions are always difficult. I hope things move forward smoothly for you and the congregation.
    Whittling? SO COOL! When going to craft fairs I always keep an eye out for whittlers. I think that's such a unique skill to have mastered.
