On day two of our trip, we planned to drive over to Cloudcroft and then down into Alamogordo/White Sands. We'd make a day of it. We love taking the backroads from Ruidoso over to Cloudcroft. It's so beautiful! I get so excited every time we see wildlife, snow, reservations, etc.
Cloudcroft is such a cute little town! We stopped to walk around the shops there. We are always so amazed to hear how many of the business owners are retirees from Texas! So cool to me!
Then we drove down to the Old Apple Barn. This is one of our favorite places to visit when in the area. We love the nostalgic toys and candies! And their cherry cider is amazing! We first visited this place when Mason was just a toddler and it's been one of his favorite places since!
Next up was Alamogordo & White Sands National Park. We have been to White Sands so many times, but I am still in awe every single time. The beauty of this park is not lost on me! I was so excited to show this area to my sister's family! We drove around until we found a perfect spot & sledding hill. The kids had a complete blast and had sand covering every inch of their bodies.
After White Sands, we headed to Alamogordo for some lunch and to rinse off the trucks. Then we started making our way back to Ruidoso. But, not before showing them the World's largest pistachio!!!
We took some forestry trails in Ruidoso for a bit, then grabbed some dinner, and then capped off the evening with some bowling! Such a fun day!
