{Pumpkin Patch with Mason's school // painting pumpkins}

This is going to be two posts in one. I'm trying to wrap up all of our Halloween festivities...ya know...before Halloween.

Last Wednesday Mason had a field trip to the Pumpkin Patch with his school. I was able to take the day off and go with him. He was so tickled that I was able to ride on the bus with him.

The pumpkin patch was at a local church not too far from his school. And it was so adorable! They had volunteers from the church there to pull hayrides, tell stories and even a little lesson that included pumpkins! We had such a great time. There were 5 parents from our class alone that were able to attend. I was able to chat and make new friends!! Such a blessing.

Mason came home with me after the patch and we spent the day together. We went to lunch and then back to the house to hang out. We cranked up Pandora {Mercy Me station = amazing!!} and and had the best time doing nothing. We laid on the couch and he watched Netflix on the iPad while I edited pictures. We had great conversations and cuddled so good! Time with my sweet boy that I will cherish always!

I just love that he gets to go on field trips in Pre-K.

...

Last night we painted pumpkins after school. Mason painted the little pumpkin that he got from the field trip and I painted the pumpkin he got at Jellystone. Of course Finn {class pet} helped us! Mason was going to paint his like a Frankenstein, but changed his mind and just wanted to paint it all different colors.  He kept saying 'this is fun' and 'my pumpkin is so awesome'. :) Love it!

I painted mine first with chalkboard paint and had intended on using a chalkboard marker to monogram it. But, the chalk marker had dried out. Bummer. So, I just painted turquoise polka-dots on it. I free-handed it...so it's not perfect...but Mason and I loved the way it turned out.

  1. Fun! We really need to adopt the painting pumpkins tradition. Carving them is too much work!
    P.S. Your Free handed dots are great! I can't free hand to save my life. :)

  5. I love the idea of your pumpkin! Bummer that the chalkboard paint had dried out but it looks super cute with the polka dots!
    How fun that he gets to go on field trips already! I signed a waiver that allows Mason to go on field trips too but they haven't gone on any yet. I'm dying for his first one! So fun!
